In NBA 2K20, in order to encourage participation, players are rewarded with mini-games such as drop the ball or spin the wheel. It has caused outrage amongst the community, who believe that 2K is promoting gambling to a young audience. Could we see these mini-games removed in 2K21?
Also, one of the more controversial decisions by the team for NBA 2K20 is to limit positions in MyTeam to whatever was on their card. And while 2K somewhat mitigated it by making the best cards eligible for two positions, the grumbling remained throughout the season. Though 2K has yet to announce exactly what it plans to change for MyTeam for NBA 2K21, although here's hoping the developer add more solo content, for starters.
At last, we're also keeping an eye on evolution's return, currently well-received, so that cards can progress to higher levels.
MyGM
In NBA 2K20, some valuable customization options were lost in MyGM. Perhaps chief among the removed features was the ability to use a custom roster. Hopefully, that functionality returns for NBA 2K21.
MyGM is a unique game mode for the NBA 2K series with a lot of potentials. Unfortunately, that potential simply wasn't delivered on in NBA 2K20.
MyGM in NBA 2K20 picked up a collection of frustrating features and boring mechanics. It includes relies on a "chit-chat" system to retain every talent in your organization from scouts to coaches to players. It also includes some of the worst dialogue ever written into a major sports franchise with lines like "Oceans or lakes…WHO YA GOT?" But with some reshaping, this could be one of the most popular game modes in the series.
MyPlayer
The MyLeague Online servers have been lacking and could really use a boost. If NBA 2K21 is to have a user-friendly and entertaining experience, it's a must to get these in working order.
When the news that WNBA was joining the game arrived, it also brought speculation that maybe there'd be an option to create a female MyPlayer. This is another must for NBA 2K21, as there's no reason not to allow female gamers to participate with this.
